P + L Systems, who specialise in the manufacture and distribution of insect control equipment, have been based in the Harrogate area for over twenty five years but also have several distribution centres located in north and south Europe.
Garnett Netherwood Architects were appointed by Hornbeam Park Developments Ltd to design a new building with the aim of bringing together the previously separate warehouse and office buildings.
The new building is located in the St James Business Park, Knaresborough with 30,000ft² of warehousing and manufacturing space, and a further 15,000ft² of office area. The building has achieved a “very good” BREEAM rating with underfloor heating to the warehouse slab fed by air source heat pumps. The building has a simple rectangular plan, with elevations clad in a mixture of facing brickwork and composite panel metal cladding, with areas of glazed curtain walling and windows to the main frontages where the office areas are located. The roof is a shallow pitch with a profiled colour coated metal cladding finish.
